Brian Bachelor

Brian is the Founder and Managing Director of Van Guru and has dedicated more than 30 years to the commercial vehicle industry. Throughout his career, he has built an exceptional reputation for his technical knowledge, commercial expertise, and customer-focused approach. With extensive experience across light commercial vehicles, fleet operations, and specialist vehicle conversions, Brian has become a trusted advisor to businesses looking for tailored vehicle solutions that meet their operational needs.

His career has seen him work with many of the industry’s most respected manufacturers, including Volvo Trucks, Isuzu, Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles, Mitsubishi, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, and, most recently, Nissan. This breadth of experience has given Brian an in-depth understanding of the commercial vehicle market, enabling him to support businesses of all sizes in selecting the right vehicles, conversions, and fleet solutions to meet their specific requirements.

Brian began his career as a commercial vehicle diesel technician, developing a strong technical foundation and first-hand understanding of vehicle engineering and maintenance. While this technical expertise has remained invaluable throughout his career, it was in commercial vehicle sales and business development where he truly excelled. His ability to build lasting customer relationships, understand complex fleet requirements, and deliver tailored vehicle solutions led him into senior leadership positions within some of the UK’s largest commercial vehicle retailers.

Prior to founding Van Guru, Brian was General Manager of Fleet, Leasing and Business Centre Operations at West Way Nissan. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing the sale of more than 10,000 vehicles each year, managing large-scale fleet operations, leading high-performing sales teams, and working closely with leasing companies, brokers, vehicle converters, and major corporate customers. His experience provided him with unique insight into the challenges businesses face when sourcing, converting, and managing commercial vehicle fleets.

Throughout his career, Brian recognised that many organisations required vehicles that went beyond standard factory specifications. Whether for trade, utility, healthcare, transport, or specialist operational use, businesses needed expert guidance to specify vehicles that were fit for purpose, compliant, and cost-effective. His experience also includes supporting customers with the growing adoption of electric commercial vehicles, giving him a broad understanding of both traditional and emerging vehicle technologies.
